Inexpensive Wedding Veils And Tiaras
Wedding Veils And Tiaras
Wedding veils and tiaras cost hundreds of dollars in exclusive wedding shops. Headpieces do not have to be expensive. There are several ways to save money on them.
First, consider making your own veil. Nothing complicated, just some simple tulle and some hair combs to hold it in place. Or use a clear or white headband and glue some tulle and/or lace to it for a simple veil.
This is what my new daughter-in-law, Cinnamon did. She made her beautiful veil and attached a hair comb to it to hold it in place. The photo below shows a side view as she walked down the sidewalk "aisle" during the wedding. She did a great job with the veil. This next photo shows a back view of Cinnamon's veil. In the next photo, my son, Andrew lifts the wedding veil off of Cinnamon's face and lets it hang over her hair at the beginning of the ceremony. You can see that they had a lot of fun during the wedding ceremony.
You can buy a used headpiece in a used clothing store or by looking in the classifieds in your local newspaper. There is nothing wrong with going to a used clothing store such as the Salvation Army or another thrift shop. Sometimes brand new items or barely used items can be found and purchased very cheaply.
If you are embarrassed, no one has to know where you bought your headpiece. Most people will not ask. I cannot remember one person asking me where I bought my wedding dress or my veil.
A very easy solution and an inexpensive one is to go to the craft department of your local Wal-Mart where the wedding things are. They have simple wedding veils and tiaras for less than $10 each there and they look pretty. If you want, you can add decorations to them.
I went to Party City just last week (January 2009) and they have a wonderful wedding section in their store with all sorts of pretty things including beautiful and inexpensive tiaras you can wear for your wedding. So check the party stores and the discount stores. Many will have tasteful items you can use in your wedding for discounted prices!
Flowers, rhinestones, glitter, lace, ribbon, or whatever you can think of can be affixed with craft glue to add your own unique style to the simple headpieces they offer. Tiny silk roses, applique flowers, and lace will look pretty. You can use spray adhesive on the headpiece and then sprinkle it with clear or white shimmering glitter and let it dry. This is especially beautiful if you are having an evening wedding with lots of candlelight. The candlelight will pick up the shimmer of the glitter and it will look gorgeous.
Veils
Cheap Wedding Veils
Consider making one of several cheap wedding veils to save money. You can make a simple veil with a long length of white tulle and a decorative hair comb. Not the kind you comb your hair with, but the kind you put in your hair like a barrette, to hold it in place.
Sew the length of tulle onto the comb with white thread so that it flows down the back of your head when you put the comb in your hair on the top of your head and that is it. Instant veil! The tulle can be short, medium or longer.
Another way is to fold the same length of tulle over a large hair barrette and glue the tulle to it with a hot glue gun. Then fasten the barrette with the tulle to the back of your hair, letting the tulle flow down the back of your head.
Cheap wedding dresses can also be made with a metal or metal wrapped with white cloth headband. Using a hot glue gun, glue the tulle or lace in the length you want to the headband so that it flows down the back of your head
A fourth way is to cut a large oval or rectangle of tulle or lace and drape it over your head. Sew a hair comb at the point of the veil that will be on the top of your hair. This will secure the veil to your head during the wedding ceremony. The veil can cover your face or it can start on your forehead and go as far down your back as you prefer.
For something a little fancier, sew pretty lace or trim on all the way around the veil. If you don't sew, you can use fabric glue to attach the trim. Appliques or sequins can also be added.
