Read The Last Lecture By Randy Pausch

The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch, is one of the most inspirational, non-Christian books I have ever read.
Randy Pausch was a computer science professor, husband, and loving father to three young children when he found out that he had terminal pancreatic cancer. He had surgery and treatments, but he died in August of 2008. He knew he would die so he decided to write this book for his three young children before the inevitable happened. He wanted them to know him.
Fortunately for us, Carnegie Melon also recorded his last lecture as they always do. Each year, they have the professors give a "last lecture" and have them pretend that this is their final lecture, imparting all of their wisdom to the students. Carnegie Melon graciously put Randy Pausch's on YouTube so we can all enjoy it.

Randy was an incredibly positive man and I am sure he was a wonderful husband and father and my heart goes out to his young family. My father always used to say that the good ones always die. I understand what he meant. What a great loss.
This man touched my heart through his book and through his lecture that you can view on You Tube. It is above this section. If you have not yet watched the lecture, click on the video above. It is not boring. You will enjoy it.
The Last Lecture is filled with positive and happy memories of the author's childhood, early adulthood, marriage, and fatherhood. He had an attitude that anything is possible. He passed this on to his college students and all of his friends.
Randy Pausch did not write this book for the world, but for his three young children, who he was afraid would not remember him. He wanted to be sure that his children would have these wonderful attitudes about life and love when he would not be there for them.
Diane Sawyer interviewed Randy Pausch and his wife, Jai. He was featured on both Prime Time Live and Good Morning America, not to mention You Tube.
I loved this book and I love going back to the You Tube video and watching it for inspiration. I think the whole world could benefit if they had somebody like Randy in their corner, rooting for them and caring. Now, through this book, they can have that someone.
I bought this book for a good friend. I had given her many gifts but she told me that this was the best gift I had ever given her. I recently did some online research and Jai gave a rare interview several months ago saying that she is doing well and that the children still miss their dad, but they are getting through it.
Do yourself a favor and read this book, especially if you need some encouragement.
